VAESP National Outstanding Assistant Principal Award

 














Congratulations, Mrs. Nickerson

Congratulations to our very own, Mrs. Kelly Nickerson, for earning the VAESP National Outstanding Assistant Principal of Virginia Award by the VA Elementary Principal's Association. The VAESP Board as well as some prominent county representative were present as we surprised her with an assembly to present to her the award on March 17, 2015. She was more formally presented with the award on Friday, April 17, 2015 at a conference in Richmond. We are very proud to call you our Assistant Principal.

MULTICULTURAL NIGHT
All King families are invited to attend!
Food:
¨ Families are asked to contribute a cultural dish to share for a food tasting!
Please sign up to bring a dish to share from your culture!
¨ A main dish will be provided to all who attend!
Activities:
¨ The King Heritage Parade will take place at 7:15 p.m.! We encourage families to wear cultural attire representing their heritage and participate in our parade!
¨ Families can create a flag representing their country and add it to our King Heritage Quilt during Multicultural Night!
During school on Friday, May 1:
¨ There will be a Student Heritage Parade at 9:15 a.m. during school. All students are invited to wear their cultural attire to school and participate in our student parade!
Come celebrate our King Community with us!
Please return the RSVP that was sent home and mark your calendars for the King Multicultural Night on May 1!



 
YEARBOOKS ON SALE
Yearbooks are on sale now!
Yearbooks can be ordered for $22 from now until the end of the school year. It is limited, so please be sure to order soon. Once it's gone, it's gone. 
Cash and Checks are accepted, payable to King Elementary. Don't miss out on a book full of Great Memories.
 
Kindergarten Registration
Students who are five years of age or older by September 30 are eligible for enrollment in Kindergarten. 

Kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year is scheduled for Thursday, April 9th and Thursday, April 23rd from 9:30-3:00 pm and from 5:00-7:00 pm at King Elementary. 

Please come with your child to visit King and register for the school year. You will need the following:
Original Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
Proof of Residency (3 forms)
School Physical/Immunizations

Please come to register even if you do not have all the above documentation!
Regional Spelling Bee
Haris Khalid represented King Elementary School at the Prince William County Regional Spelling Bee on March 13, 2015. The competition included 48 students students in grades 3-8 from a variety of public and private schools around our county. Haris placed 6th overall! We are so proud of his accomplishments!

         
School Focus
A new club at King Elementary School is teaching girls lessons about motivation, self-esteem, life skills and much more. Learn all about The Princess Club on this edition of School Focus.

Donna Hessein honored at School Board reception.

She was among the PWCS teachers honored for highest professional achievement and as nominees for Teacher of the Year.

King ES Designated 2014 School of Excellence

Our students have the distinction of attending a PWCS School of Excellence.  This is the 2nd consecutive year King ES earned the coveted title.  

 

School of Excellence is the highest recognition awarded to schools by the PWCS School Board. It signifies high levels of performance on state accreditation, Annual Measurable Objectives, and in moving toward the goals of the Division's Strategic Plan.

 

Congratulations to everyone who helped to earn this important indicator of student success.
